Sea Cadet, Able Cadet Luke Short who lives in Chelsea and goes to the London Nautical School has only been a cadet for 3 years, but he has already been recognised for his hard work and excellent service and commitment to the Sea Cadets by being appointed the Lord Mayor’s Sea Cadet for the City of London.

Luke received his Lord Mayor’s Badge at a ceremony held at HMS PRESIDENT at on the morning of the Lord Mayor’s Show.

The New Lord Mayor of London, Alderman David Wootton was piped ashore after travelling by boat from Pimlico, in a flotilla of over 40 small craft, which turned the clock back over 100 years to 1856,  the last time the Lord Mayor travelled by boat to the Palace of Westminster to swear allegiance to the Crown.

Alderman Wootton congratulated Cadet Short and welcomed him as his new Sea Cadet for the year.   He then headed back to the Guild Hall where the main procession and Lord Mayors’ Show began.

Luke said, “I found out that I was to be appointed a few weeks ago and have been really looking forward to it, I think I will get lots of opportunities to take advantage of and I am looking forward to some of the events that the Lord Mayor will be attending.”
