Leading technology companies have joined forces with The Prince's Trust to offer free training to poeple from Armed Forces family looking to get a start in the IT industry.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) are offering free four week courses in Cloud Computing for people with a military connection.
AWS re:Start is open to Service leavers in resettlement, veterans, Reservists, Cadet Adult Volunteers, cadets and spouses of military/veterans.
You don’t need any previous technical knowledge to join the course, you’ll get that from QA Consulting's certified instructors on a course designed to accommodate different levels of experience. There will also be the opportunity to get on the job training through work experience placements with blue chip companies supporting the scheme.
In addition to the technical training, The Prince’s Trust, through their ‘Get into Technology’ programme, will support students with mentoring, soft work skills, and help in applying for jobs including CV writing and interview skills.
AWS intend to train 1,000 people over the next three years, of whom 800 will be from the defence community. The first course starts on March 27 in Manchester with around 45 places.
