151 (London) Transport Regiment The Royal Logistic Corps was selected as part of the country’s Volunteer Reservist Representation at this Year’s Remembrance Sunday Ceremony at The Cenotaph

Territorial Army soldiers serving with London’s only Transport Regiment, The 151 London Transport Regiment, The Royal Logistic Corps Volunteers, were selected as the Volunteer Reservist contingent who took part in this year’s Guard of Honour and paraded in front of Her Majesty The Queen at The Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday, 13 November 2011.

Captain Paul Herlihy, 44, a Building Consultant from Thurrock, who owns his own business, commanded the Detachment on parade.  He said “To be selected to represent the Territorial Army on Remembrance Day at the Cenotaph in front of the Queen and other members of the Royal Family alongside all those who are currently or have previously served their country is a real honour.” He continued “Remembrance Sunday is an important date in our TA calendar and to be included in this way is a tremendous privilege. The soldiers went through a rigorous selection process and we have spent a number of evenings training hard and long into the night, both at our TA Centre and on the forecourt at Wellington Barracks, where we have been practicing and perfecting our drills. This made a welcome change from Driver Training and operational training that we usually carry out. The Regiment’s calendar is busy as we are currently committed to operations in Afghanistan and have recently also returned from UN Peace Keeping Operations in Cyprus.  We took on the role at the Cenotaph with a great deal of pride”.

The TA soldiers had the rare opportunity to wear the ceremonial ‘Greatcots’ as worn by the military guards outside Buckingham Palace.
