The City Association (City RFCA) was established to maintain and promote the centuries-old link between the Mayoralty, the Corporation of London, and other city organisations, with the Reserve Forces and Cadets.
It also supports Defence by raising awareness in the City of London of Defence and Security issues.
City RFCA Events
The City RFCA deliver a number of events each year in furtherance of the relationship of the City with the Armed Forces.
City Briefing Dinner
Held in the Guildhall, this event brings together employer organisations and members of City Reserve Forces to share an understanding of the role and training of reserve personnel to encourage support through the Armed Forces Covenant.
Exercise Sharp Shooter
A competition between teams from City organisations participating in tasks set by City Reserve Units representing the range of leadership and practical training they undertake.
Defence and Security Lecture
Hosted by the Mansion House, this annual briefing by a senior member of the Military or Security service provides an opportunity for City members to learn more about current national and international security issues.
Support for Cadet activities
In recent months we have held a recognition event for Cadet Force Adult Volunteers with the Lord Mayor of the City of London. We also supported a Livery Company briefing on the impact and value of Cadet Forces.
Ceremonial Events
City RFCA delivers or supports military ceremonial activity including the Armed Forces Day Flag Raising, Lord Mayor’s Show and Remembrance Sunday.
Grant funds
Grants are made available to the Reserve and Cadet Force units who hold privilege and associated status with the City of London. These grants are for the direct and indirect support of those units and their members and are intended to subsidise activities not funded through MOD or Public Funds. Grants have been made in the past year towards adventurous training, expeditions, Cadet summer camps and community engagement.
City Secretary
The City Secretary is the part-time salaried staff of City RFCA tasked with delivering the objectives and maintaining links with all stakeholders.
Currently, the position is held by Lieutenant Commander (Retd) Liz Church RD VR, previously a reservist in the Royal Navy and with a civilian background in Marketing.
