Thursday, 17th September, Ministry of Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Silver Awards 2026 took place at One Birdcage Walk, London, honouring 26 London-based organisations.
The ERS Silver Awards are a pivotal initiative within the framework of the Armed Forces Covenant (AFC) programme, aimed at fostering support for the Armed Forces community and recognising organisations making substantial contributions in this domain. The AFC programme seeks to raise awareness about the importance of supporting our service members and veterans, encouraging businesses to engage in activities that contribute to their welfare.
Supporting the Armed Forces community at work isn’t just a nice gesture. It’s a genuine commitment, and the Employer Recognition Scheme recognises employers who back it up with action. For Ministry of Defence, it means that in an increasingly uncertain world, employers who support Defence are assisting our Armed Forces to build stronger, more resilient military force in the process.
For employers, it means something even bigger. Reservists get the flexibility to serve without sacrificing their careers. Veterans and military spouses/partners know they’re joining a workplace that understands and values their experience. CFAVs, often balancing full-time jobs with volunteering to train the next generation of cadets, get a real, tangible backing rather than just a thank-you.
During the awards ceremony, each organisation was thoughtfully paired with a song that reflected their business function, adding a creative and fun element to the event.
The award not only distinguishes an organisation’s commitment to the Armed Forces community but also sets a strong example for other businesses to follow suit.
