The Ministry of Defence is pleased to announce that 331 organisations have been awarded the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Silver Award for 2026. Twenty-six of those awarded nationally have been from the Greater London area.
The Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Silver Awards are a pivotal initiative within the framework of the Armed Forces Covenant (AFC) programme, aimed at fostering support for the Armed Forces community and recognising organisations making substantial contributions in this domain. The AFC programme seeks to raise awareness about the importance of supporting our service members and veterans, encouraging businesses to engage in activities that contribute to their welfare.
The 2026 Silver ERS Awards showcased the commitment of 26 London-based organisations to supporting the Armed Forces community. These awards are a testament to their dedication to hiring, training, and championing service members and veterans. Achieving the Silver Award is a significant milestone, symbolising an organisation’s exceptional support for the Armed Forces community and veterans’ employment. To be awarded a Silver recognition from the Ministry of Defence, organisations must provide 5 extra days leave for Reservists, and have supportive HR policies in place for Reservists, veterans, Cadet Force Adult Volunteers and the spouses and partners of those serving in the Armed Forces.
The award not only distinguishes an organisation’s commitment to the Armed Forces community but also sets a strong example for other businesses to follow suit.
