HQ London District is seeking an inspiring leader for the voluntary role of Deputy Commandant, South East Sector ACF, a rare and rewarding opportunity to help shape the future of one of the capital’s most vibrant and diverse Cadet communities.
With over 795 Cadets and 120 committed Adult Volunteers across 20 detachments and 3 Companies, the South East Sector is at the heart of delivering the Army Cadet Force experience. As Deputy Commandant, you’ll take on a key leadership role, driving excellence, motivating our volunteer team, and expanding life-changing opportunities for young people from every background.

- Receive Recognition and Support: Subject to induction, the successful candidate may be granted the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and will be eligible annually for a number of paid Volunteer Allowance days and transport cost reimbursement, in line with ACF Regulations.
We seek a candidate with a strong track record of leadership and commitment, ideally having held the rank or equivalent of Major or above in the Cadet Forces, Regular Army, or Army Reserves. You will bring a deep understanding of the values and standards of the Army Cadets and an ability to support and inspire both adult volunteers and cadets.
Applicants from the Regular or Reserve forces are encouraged and will be supported to gain familiarity with current ACF operations and sector-specific issues. Prior experience working with youth organisations is desirable, but not essential.
- Current or former officer (Major or above) in the Cadet Forces, Reserves, or Regular Army
- Support from your current chain of command (two referees required, including your current line manager)
- Willingness to undergo a DBS Enhanced Disclosure and obtain Security Check (SC) clearance
- Commitment to complete the National Senior Officers’ Course within one year of appointment
