Support available to UK Veterans
The Government is committed to becoming the best place in the world to be a veteran and offers support across all areas including housing, employment and healthcare.
Veterans UK
Veterans UK is part of the Ministry of Defence (MOD). They help ex-service personnel get appropriate support from government, local authorities, independent bodies and the charity sector.
Veterans UK provides free support for veterans and their families, including a helpline, Veterans Welfare Service, Defence Transition Services and injury/bereavement compensation scheme payments.

Veterans Gateway
The Veterans’ Gateway put veterans and their families in touch with the organisations best placed to help with the advice and support they need.
Its unique support (both in the UK and abroad) is funded by the Armed Forces Covenant. And supported by charities and organisations and individuals, including the National Health Service (NHS), the Government of the United Kingdom (GOV.UK) and the Ministry of Defence (MOD).
Mental Health support
Op Courage
Op Courage is an NHS mental health specialist service designed to help serving personnel due to leave the military, reservists, armed forces veterans and their families.

Employment support
Help for service leavers from Defence Transition Services
Defence Transition Services (DTS) is run by the MOD’s Veterans UK. It exists to provide information and support for those service leavers and their families who are most likely to face challenges as they leave the armed forces and adjust to civilian life.

Armed Forces access to Jobcentre Plus services
As part of the Armed Forces Covenant, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has initiatives that help current and former armed forces personnel and your families access Jobcentre Plus services.
This includes having an armed forces champion in every Jobcentre Plus district who ensures that we provide support that meets your needs.
